Recently, my son, Aaron, published his newest book Volunteer Leadership Training: For Youth Ministry. As is our custom when a member achieves their goal, our family celebrated with Aaron on his big accomplishment. Marva and I couldn’t be more thrilled to see Aaron share his wisdom with the world.
It isn’t difficult for me to get excited about this book! After all, it was written by my son. But this is more than just a “proud dad” moment for me. I highly recommend this book as a resource for anyone who manages volunteers.
When I first read his manuscript, I challenged Aaron to make a change (in the end, he declined dad’s “advice”.) My suggestion was to take out the words “youth” and “ministry” from the title. My rationale was that everything he has written is applicable for effectively leading volunteers in any organization, not only youth ministry. The information and tools that Aaron writes about are useful for anyone working with volunteer leaders.
The hallmark of Aaron’s success has been his effectiveness in engaging people to work for him without getting paid, i.e. volunteer. As such, his ministry has had a huge impact not only on the youth he serves, but also on their families and others who have volunteered as part of his service network. In his new book. he shares with us what has worked for him, and how it can work for you.
Join me in congratulating Aaron on this achievement, and consider this book as a potential resource for your work with volunteers.
