Using Special Event Fundraising as a link to Major Gifts

Most events don’t bring enough resources to the mission to justify their existence. Yet, many organizations continue to believe special event fundraising is a good way to raise money.  Events CAN bring in a lot of money but they can also cost a lot in time and resources.

While I always recommend investing your time and resources expanding major gifts fundraising, rather than event based fundraising, I also recognize that fundraising events are still popular. So, I’ve created some resources to help make the most of your special event.

First, check out my recorded webinar:  “Fundraising Events and Major Gifts: How Do We Get From One to the Other?” It’s a great resource for you and your team to consider as you look towards your fundraising events.  You’ll learn key steps to turn your fundraising event into relationships with key donors that will last a lot longer than the 4-hour event.

Additionally, I’m giving you 6 Tips to help turn your upcoming event into opportunities for major gifts.  Take copies to your next strategy meeting so your team can brainstorm ways of implementing these tips into your next event.

Special events can be great; they bring in money and introduce new people to your mission.  They can also be costly, take up significant amounts of time, and leave you and your team exhausted.  I’m passionate about helping organizations move from these big events to big gifts.  The video and tip sheet above can help your team start that journey.

PS:  I’ve also created a Special Event Analysis Tool that helps you answer the key question about your event: “is the result worth the effort?”  If you’d like to learn about how you can get that tool for your team, email me back today.  I’d love to play a part in helping you make your special event more than a one-night success.
