Last week I met someone I’ve been waiting for months to meet in person. Let me introduce you to my grandson, Christian Feierabend!
I got to hold him at the hospital on the day he was born. This picture was taken a couple of days later when he and his mom arrived at home. What a precious bundle of pure love! (Can you tell how thrilled we are with each other?)
Although he doesn’t know it yet, this little guy has a world of opportunity in front of him.
Here’s why.
In spite of the unending negative messages we’re bombarded with every day, Christian was born at the best of times in human history! I won’t attempt to list all the reasons, but just consider these privileges he inherited:
- Accessibility to the broadest knowledge base ever
- Innumerable technological breakthroughs
- Access to advanced medical care
- (fairly) Stable world governments
- Robust educational systems
- Fast, affordable travel
- Clean water
- Fresh air
- And more . . .
As a citizen of the United States of America, Christian’s future is bright.
But he has another huge advantage. Christian and his two siblings are nurtured by the loving care of their Mom and Dad. I’m so proud of my kids and what they are providing for their kids.
There’s another aspect of today’s world that adds to every person’s potential: Our robust charitable sector.
The work you do every day benefits everyone on earth! While your work may not directly touch every person, there’s an indirect effect that reaches us all.
So today I’m giving thanks to you, for your impact on my grandson. Thanks for making the world a better place for him and his generation.
Your friend,
Kent Stroman
