Are you ready for success?

Today we begin a weekly video series where I share with you some tools you can put into practice IMMEDIATELY to engage donors and get larger gifts for your organization. If you’re not directly involved in fundraising, you’ll still want to tune in. These concepts can be applied in many areas of life where you want to build relationships or communicate more effectively: sales, meetings, family and friend interactions, and other one-on-one communication situations.

climbing10stepsThis series is based on the 10 Step Staircase found in my book Asking About Asking: Mastering the Art of Conversational Fundraising. Each week, we’ll look at one or two steps until we get to YES! at the top.

This excerpt from my book describes the process:

“Think of gift solicitation like standing at the foot of a staircase and wishing to get to the second story. It would be nice to get there in one giant step, but that is neither possible nor ideal. Just as the staircase requires taking on comfortable step after another, soliciting major contributions consists of a number of activities-each taken in order. Of course there are times when we are in a hurry and take the stairs two at a time. It can be done, but-if we are not cautions enough-we may slip…fall…and have to start over.”

The videos are short (just a couple of minutes) and to the point. Next week we’ll begin climbing the staircase. For now, take a look at how we define success in fundraising. You might be surprised!

Sincerely,

20transparent
